Colin Noutch
After qualifying as a driving instructor in 1988 I ran an independent driving school based in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne for over 20 years. In 2008, seeking a new challenge, I took the opportunity to join North East Drive Mobility (NEDM) as a full time Driving Advisor and gained a Professional Certificate in Driving Assessment and Outdoor Mobility.
My role at NEDM included driving assessments and specialised tuition in highly adapted vehicles, working with clients with a wide range of medical conditions including CP, stroke, brain injuries and learning difficulties.
As one of the most senior driving advisors in the north east of England and Cumbria I have been heavily involved with Drive Mobility and served as the north east regional lead. Outside of that I am also active in the Educational Working Group for the UK and regularly present alongside clinical colleagues at disability awareness courses to help educate driving instructors on the intricacies of teaching differently able people.
My almost 15 years of experience at NEDM has allowed me to hone my knowledge and capabilities, and has reignited my passion for helping people to learn to drive and return to driving after a change in health or circumstances.
